Toba Tek Singh.(www.apnapirmahal.com)22-12-2015:.Eighteen out of 48 members of PTI district executive council have resigned in protest against not awarding party ticket to Sonia Raza, daughter of late PML-N MPA Pir Ali Raza, for PP-89 by-elections scheduled to be held on January 6, 2016.Addressing a press conference at the press club here on Sunday, PTI former district president Dr Waheed Akbar, former district secretary Zahid Iqbal, Kamalia tehsil organiser Ghulam Mustafa Chattha, former youth wing president Habib Haris, Saleem, Rai Zubairullah, Rafiq Mumbar, Rana Mubashir, Abid Marth, Dr Iftikhar Anjum and others announced their resignation. They condemned the issuance of show-cause notice to Riaz Fatyana and said they were with him, who was loyal to the PTI. They said that the party district leadership gave ticket to Rana Shafiq under a conspiracy. They said that the real contest would be between PML-N candidate Pir Ali Baba and independent candidate Sonia Raza. They urged PTI chief Imran Khan to cancel the ticket of Rana Shafiq and announce party support to Sonia Raza.

Toba Tek Singh.(www.apnapirmahal.com)22-12-2015:.A PML-N group seeking party ticket for the district council chairman slot has claimed that it has support of 50 UC chairmen.In a meeting here on Saturday night, MNA Junaid Anwar Chaudhry and MPAs Mian Muhammad Rafiq, Col (retd) Sardar Ayub Gadhi and Amjad Ali Javed said that former MPA Sardar Masood Gadhi was the best candidate for the slot. It is worth mentioning that Fauzia Khalid, wife of PML-N MNA Khalid Javed Warraich, is also a candidate for the same slot. MNA Ch Asadur Rehman and MPAs Qadeer Awan and Nazia Raheel Gujjar are in her favour. The group has also claimed the support of 57 UC chairmen. The PML-N leadership has so far not issued party ticket to anyone for the slot.

According to police, Husnain Akram of Chak 334/GB, Rajowal, was heading to another village on Toba-Khikha Road when a donkey-cart hit him and left him dead on the spot. Meanwhile, a farmer Muhammad Naseer of Chak 325/GB along with his tractor fell into a well and suffered injuries .

Toba Tek Singh.(www.apnapirmahal.com)22-12-2015:.In a dramatic development on Thursday, Pirmahal PPP leader and the party’s defeated candidate for PP-89 in 2013 general election Rana Muhammad Shafiq announced joining the PTI.After his joining the PTI, he was awarded party ticket and allotted the bat symbol.Mr Shafiq had bagged more than 26,000 votes in 2013 general election and was runner up against PML-N’s Makhdoom Ali Raza. He belongs to the group of Pir Ali Baba, a nephew of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. After Mr Shafiq becoming PTI candidate, a tough fight is expected in the PP-89 by-election to be held on Jan 6.The seat was vacated after the death of Makhdoom Ali Raza.The PML-N had already awarded ticket to Pir Ali Baba, who lost on PPP ticket in NA-94 (Kamalia-Pirmahal) in 2013 general election. He is now union council No 77 independent chairman-elect.Pir Ali Baba is also caretaker of shrine of Hazrat Pir Qutab Ali Shah of Sindhillianwali.Pir Ali Baba never announced joining the PML-N. He had applied for the PML-N ticket without announcing quitting the PPP.Meanwhile, on the last day for withdrawal of nomination papers on Thursday, seven out of total 18 candidates withdrew their papers. Out of the remaining 11 candidates in the field, nine including two daughters of late Makhdoom Ali Raza and wife of Riaz Fatyana, Begum Ashfa Fatyana, are contesting the by-poll as independents.
