Toba Tek Singh.(www.apnapirmahal.com)18-04-2015:.Former Punjab governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar Thursday said he would join the protest and sit-in of farmers if sugar mills owners did not pay outstanding money to them.Talking to a delegation of farmers during his visit at Pirmahal, he said if payment was not made to them until April 20, he would join their sit-in and hunger strike from May Day outside Toba DCO office.The delegation was led by PTI Kissan wing district president Mehr Mumtaz Ahmad.

Toba Tek Singh.(www.apnapirmahal.com)18-04-2015:.Pirmahal Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najeeb along with police and other officers on Tuesday retrieved 60 acres state land from land grabbers at Chak 321/GB.The AC, tehsildar Manzar Hafeez and naib tehsildar Muneer Ahmad along with a police party conducted an operation and retrieved the state land on which accused Fayyaz and his accomplices were cultivating crops illegally for the last 10 years. Earlier, the Revenue Department had issued several notices to the accused persons and imposed Rs 15 million penalty on them, but they did not pay the amount and continued growing crops on the said state land. After the operation, the AC said that operation against land grabbers would continue in future also.

Toba Tek Singh.(www.apnapirmahal.com)18-04-2015:.Thousands of growers of Pirmahal, Kabirwala and Shorkot took out a rally against waterlogging by Trimmu Head Sidhnai Link Canal here on Saturday.They blocked traffic at Shahbaz Chowk to register their protest. The farmers having land on either banks of the canal were demanding Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif fulfil his demand to brickline the canal.Addressing the protesters, Pirmahal Farmers Association president Shafqat Rasool, Kabirwala farmers’ leader Naimat Ali Kamboh, Shorkot farmers’ leader Mehr Noor Sargana, Awami Workers Party Toba district president Muhammad Zubair, Kisan Ittehad president Muhammad Sarwar, Labour Qaumi Movement district chief Shabbir Ahmad and UC former naib nazim Zulfiqar said that waterlogging caused by the canal had destroyed hundreds of acres of farmland. They said that the farmers’ current rice yield was ruined as saline water was flowing through their fields and they could not harvest the crop. They claimed that the Punjab irrigation secretary during a meeting with a farmers’ delegation of three districts of Toba, Khanewal and Jhang had promised that water supply would be kept less than 4,000 cusecs in the canal, but in recent months water flow was more than 12,000 cusecs. Some of the speakers warned of committing self-immolation outside the CM Secretariat if the issue was not resolved.Speaking on the occasion, PML-N MPA Mian Muhammad Rafiq said that he always raised his voice in the Punjab Assembly over the issue. He claimed that Rs 2 billion had been allocated in the current annual development programme on the order of the CM but the project could not be started due to red tape.

Toba Tek Singh.(www.apnapirmahal.com)18-04-2015:.A youth murdered his relative woman after accusing her of killing his mother here.  According to Sadr police, Tayyaba Iftikhar of Islamabad said that she and her mother Zainab Bibi had come to see their relatives at Chak 293/GB where their relative Majeedan Bibi died after some illness. She said that Majeedan Bibi’s son Yaseen allegedly attacked and killed her mother Zainab Bibi, blaming that she (Zainab) killed Majeedan through black magic. Police are conducting raids to arrest the accused.

On the day of the incident, police, on a tip-off, arrested him from the general bus stand. Police have started investigation.

Toba Tek Singh.(www.apnapirmahal.com)18-04-2015:. Relatives of a prisoner, who was allegedly tortured to death by jail officials, Wednesday staged a demonstration against the killing.The demonstrators set fire to tyres on Rajana road, leaving traffic disrupted for one hour.  They said deceased Mustafa was arrested in a case registered under sections 406 and 401 of the PPC and was sent to district jail on judicial remand on February 23.They said Mustafa was tortured to death in the jail and his body was shifted to the DHQ hospital.Later, they ended the protest on the assurance of the city police officials that an inquiry would be conducted into the killing of the deceased.When contacted, assistant superintendent jail Asif Murtaza denied allegations, saying that Mustafa fell ill and died on the way to the hospital
