The National Labour Federation activists have condemned the DHQ Hospital doctors for allegedly refusing to operate a poor NLF activist’s wife.Addressing a meeting here on Friday, NLF chairman Majeed Salik alleged that the doctors refused to conduct abdominal tumour operation of NLF activist Arif’s 60-year-old wife despite she was admitted to the hospital few days ago. He said that the MS of the hospital was also informed about the issue but to no avail. He said that doctors prefer to conduct operation of those patients who agree to admit to their private clinics. He warned that if an inquiry not initiated against responsible doctors till June 10, the NLF workers would lock the government offices in the city on June 11. When contacted, acting MS Dr Ghulam Hussain said that there was non-operation day when the woman patient was asked for operation and it was happened just due to misunderstanding.

Fesco Chief Executive Officer Ch Rashid Aslam and PML-N MNA from Kamalia Ch Asadur Rehman on Tuesday inaugurated shifting of power supply to 132KV grid station of Kamalia to the Fesco from the Mepco.Speaking on the occasion, the Fesco chief executive said that Rs 180 million had been spent on the project and now the Fesco would supply power while it was being supplied earlier from the Mepco through Vehari grid station. He said that low voltage complaints of Kamalia consumers had also been resolved as a result of completion of this new project. He announced that there would be no ban on provision of new electricity connections at Kamalia. Fesco Development Chief Engineer Masood Salahuddin and Kamalia XEN Afzal Kathia were also present.

The Rescue 1122 staffers have provided rescue and safety training to 1,247 teachers of the government schools in the district.A press release said on Tuesday that during the training, they were taught how to save themselves and students in case of any sudden fire or accident and how to use first aid in case of injuries. A two-day separate school safety wardens training was also conducted by the trainers, it added.

Muhammad Sarwar, father of Iram Parveen, told police that she exchanged harsh words with him and took poison. She was rushed to the DHQ hospital where she died.

Seven government schoolteachers of the district have been terminated from the service for remaining absent from their duty.It was said by District Monitoring Officer Asif Dogar in a meeting here on Friday. He said that 43 absent teachers had also been fined. He said that 1,207 schools had been inspected by his teams and it was found that 90 per cent teachers were present on duty. ADC Zeeshan Shabbir Rana who chaired the meeting claimed that 832 development schemes of schools would be completed before June 30 with a sum of Rs 387.9 million.

More than 100,000 devotees from all parts of the country participated in the Urs. Earlier, the Urs was inaugurated by the shrine’s caretaker advocate Baba Ghulam Rasool. Traffic police had diverted the heavy traffic from the city to Faisalabad and Gojra due to heavy rush of the devotees on roads.

A dacoit was killed and three villagers were injured in an encounter at Chak Dohrabad on Wednesday night.Three dacoits broke into a house and tried to loot it. On hearing noise, the villagers rushed to the spot, forcing the dacoits to escape towards the fields. The dacoits opened fire at the villagers. As a result, Ijaz, Babar and Asif were injured. In the meantime, police also rushed to the spot and retaliated, killing one of the three dacoits while the others escaped. The injured villagers were shifted to the DHQ Hospital. The killed dacoit could not be identified till the filing of the report.

Toba Tek Singh.(www.apnapirmahal.com)08-06-2015:. A TMA team and the Revenue staff under the supervision of AC Wasif Khokhar demolished about a dozen houses during anti-encroachment campaign at Nai Abadi of Chak 323/JB, Qiampur, on Wednesday.
However, the people residing in the houses staged a demonstration and blocked traffic on Gojra Road and Bypass Road in protest besides locking railway level crossing on Bypass Road. They also burnt tyres in protest. They told journalists that they were residing in their houses for the last 25 years and they had been made shelterless in severe heat without any justification as their names had been included as occupants in different surveys conducted by the Revenue Department. Later, the AC called representatives of the protesters in his office but when they reached the office for talks, the AC was not present. At this, the protesters again started their protest and blocked roads for traffic. Later, DSP Headquarters Azhar Yaqub held talks with the protesters and assured them that their demand would be presented to the higher authorities. At this, the protesters dispersed.

A police constable and a dacoit were killed during an encounter near Nawan Lahore on Saturday night.According to the police, four dacoits were hidden near Chak 347/JB when they saw that two cops were coming towards them. At this, the dacoits opened fire on them. As a result, Constable Naeem was seriously injured. He was shifted to a hospital where he died. Later, police chased the dacoits and tried to arrest them. In the meantime, one dacoit was killed during exchange of firing between the police and the dacoits. However, his accomplices fled. Meanwhile, funeral prayers for Naeem were offered at the Police Lines in which DCO Waqas Alam, DPO Rana Shahzad Akbar and MNA Junaid Anwaar also participated.

Some unidentified dacoits entered the house of Pak Navy captain Abdul Mateen at Revenue Officers Colony No 2 and decamped with cash, ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 600,000. Thieves took away an electric transformer from the tube-well of Khushi Muhammad at Chak 682/23-GB.

The lawyers led by DBA president Asghar Chaudhry reached the Shahbaz Chowk and chanted slogans against the police. They also offered funeral prayers in absentia for the killed lawyers.
