 They demanded this during their meeting with MNA Ch Asadur Rehman here on Saturday. The farmers, led by Ch Shafqat Rasool and Ch Afzaal Tahir, told that their crops had been ruined due to water logging as a result of excess water supply to the canal. They said that if water supply to the canal was not decreased, their wheat crops would be destroyed completely. The MNA assured them that he would talk to the Punjab chief minister on this issue. Later, the MNA visited the fields of Chak 778/GB, 698/GB, 697/39-GB, 694/36-GB, 703/45-GB and 702/44-GB, where he himself witnessed that water had ruined crops.

The street singing as a profession was on the verge of extinction as it was no more a viable economically, he added. However, he said, his son Nadeem - the youngest of the five - was learning from him.Mukhtiar said he was fond of singing Sufi poetry of Hazrat Mian Muhammad Bakhsh and Bulleh Shah, and well-appreciated by people.
